Ms. Mitzi Polacsek, Support Coordinator for Marymead’s Autism Center, Ms. Cass Scutt, Marketing and Communications Coordinator of Marymead and Charged affairs Nina Cainglet at the closing of the Philippine Embassy in Canberra’s Kapihan on Autism Awareness.

The Philippine Embassy in Canberra held a seminar with Marymead on Autism Awareness on 23 January 2018 at the Embassy grounds in celebration of National Autism Consciousness Week. Marymead is a non-government organization based in the Australian Capital Territory that delivers support services to children, young people and their families.

Ms. Mitzi Polacsek, Support Coordinator for Marymead’s Autism Center, gave a briefing on the autism and provided suggestions on how to address the needs of consular clients who may be within the autism spectrum. Ms. Cass Scutt, Marketing and Communications Coordinator of Marymead, also provided a background on the various services provided by their organization to people with disabilities and their families.

The Philippines celebrates National Autism Consciousness Week every January by virtue of Proclamation No. 711 signed by President Fidel V. Ramos on 04 January 1996.
