01 July 2020 – H.E. Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega, Philippine Ambassador to Australia, administered the oath of office to Mr. Richard Van Neutegem as Philippine Honorary Consul to Tasmania via video link on 01 July 2020. This officially re-opens the Philippine Consulate in Hobart to serve more than 2,000 Filipinos in Tasmania.
The Honorary Consul is responsible for promoting and protecting the interests of the Philippines in Tasmania. It is also his duty to protect the rights and promote the welfare of Filipino citizens in his consular jurisdiction
