FILCCA 2021 National Awards Ceremony Recognizes Achievements of Filipino Australians

22 October 2021 – The Philippine Embassy congratulates the Filipino Communities Council of Australia (FILCCA) Board of Management and all awardees of the FILCCA National Awards Ceremony held virtually on 20 October 2021. The 2021 Filipino-Australian of the Year was awarded to Ms. Catriona Gray, model, artist and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Universe 2018.

In her remarks, H.E. Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega, Philippine Ambassador to Australia said, “Our community has a compelling story to tell individually and collectively. In celebrating the achievements of our awardees today, we continue to add layers and weave into the fabric of the continuing narrative of Filipino Australians. It is in our interest when our community is vibrant, involved and committed to the issues that define your presence here in Australia.”

Representatives from the Australian Government, Senator the Hon James McGrath, Senator for Queensland, Senator the Hon Don Farrell, Senator for South Australia, Mr. Damian Drum MP, Member for Nicholls, Mr. David Smith MP, Member for Bean, and DFAT First Assistant Secretary Ridwaan Jadwat attended the virtual ceremony.

The National Awards are awarded by FILCCA to Filipino-Australian individuals and groups for their achievements in their respective fields and contributions to their communities. END
