06 March 2025, MANILA - Philippine Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga met with Philippine Ambassador to Australia Antonio Alberto Morales in Manila on 18 February 2025 to discuss key areas of cooperation between the Philippines and Australia, particularly in renewable energy, climate change adaptation, and disaster resilience.

Recognizing Australia’s extensive experience in renewable energy, Ambassador Morales underscored the opportunities for the Philippines in harnessing expertise and best practices to support the country’s clean energy transition in an environmentally and socially sustainable manner.

The meeting also highlighted the strong partnership between the Philippines and Australia in disaster risk reduction and response. Secretary Yulo-Loyzaga recalled her visit to Brisbane in September 2022, where she led the Philippine delegation to the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR).

Secretary Yulo-Loyzaga successfully hosted the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) 2024 in Manila from 14-18 October 2024. The conference, which focused on advancing regional action for resilience in the face of increasing disaster and climate risks, contributed significantly to shaping strategies for implementing the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. - END
