The Philippine Embassy in Australia joins the Filipino Community in Australian Capital Territory (ACT) in their celebration of the 124th Anniversary of Philippine Independence

29 June 2022 – The Philippine Embassy joined the Filipino community in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) in their celebration of the 124th Anniversary of Philippine Independence held on 25 June 2022.

The celebration was organized by the Filipino Communities Council of the ACT (FCCACT) headed by its President, Ms. Cecilia Flores. It was the first in-person event organized by FCCACT since the pandemic.

In her message to the community, H.E. Ma. Hellen De La Vega, Philippine Ambassador to Australia, thanked the Filipino-Australian community in demonstrating responsible citizenship during the recently concluded elections in the Philippines and Australia. She encouraged them to always represent the democatic ideals that their two countries have fought for and continue to uphold.

Hon. David Smith, Member of the Australian Parliament, lauded Filipinos in Australia for their faithfulness to the values and culture of the Philippines, citing the recently concluded event that commemorated the birth anniversary of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal at the Embassy.

The FCCACT is the peak body of Filipino community organizations in Canberra that hosts the annual Independence Day gala. ---END---
