23 May 2024, CANBERRA - Officials from the Armed Forces of the Philippines provided a briefing to Ambassador Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega on their engagements with Australian counterparts in support of the Strategic Partnership of the Philippines and Australia.

LTGEN Stephen Parreño, Commanding General of the Philippine Air Force (PAF), led the Philippine delegation to the Air and Sea Power Conference organized by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF)on 6-9 May 2024. LTGEN Parreño met the Ambassador on 8 May and they discussed ongoing cooperation between the PAF and the RAAF.

MGEN Ferdinand Barandon, Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence, J2 of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) visited Canberra for the annual Intelligence Exchange with the Australian Defence Intelligence Organisation. MGEN Barandon met the Ambassador on 21 May and they discussed current challenges to regional security and national efforts to address them.

The Philippines and Australia, have a robust defense and security cooperation program that covers a range of activities in counter-terrorism, maritime security and humanitarian assistance and disaster response. Australia is one of only two Visiting Forces Agreement partners of the Philippines. -- END
