23 March 2026, CANBERRA - As part of the month-long celebration of National Women’s Month, the Philippine Embassy held a Beginner’s Yoga Class for personnel and family members on 23 March 2026.
The session was led by Atty. Frances Ricci Salgado, Australia Awards scholar, Associate Solicitor at the Office of the Solicitor General, and a licensed yoga instructor, who guided participants through gentle and accessible practice suitable for beginners.
In support of staff wellbeing and sustained service delivery, Philippine Embassy personnel took part in a brief wellness session incorporating simple stretching and breathing exercises.
The 2026 National Women’s Month Celebration continues the six-year campaign banner, “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society” (2023-2028). This year’s sub-theme, “Lead like the Babaylans, Filipinas!”, draws inspiration from the pre-colonial babaylans who embodied leadership, wisdom, and service to the community.
Observed annually, National Women’s Month recognizes the invaluable contributions of women across all sectors and underscores the continuing efforts to ensure equal access to opportunities, resources, and protection under the law. The celebration is anchored on Republic Act No. 9710, or the Magna Carta of Women, and reflects the Philippines’ commitments under key international frameworks, including the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Throughout March, the Embassy undertakes activities in support of this year’s celebration, aimed at promoting awareness, fostering solidarity, and encouraging collective action toward a more inclusive and equitable society. - END
