23 March 2026, SYDNEY – Philippine Ambassador to Australia H.E. Antonio A. Morales participated in a series of official engagements in Sydney from 21 to 23 March 2026 in connection with the 125th anniversary of the Royal Australian Navy, the International Fleet Review, and the visit of BRP Diego Silang to Australia under Exercise Kakadu 2026. This is the first ever visit and deployment of the Philippine Navy to Sydney Harbour.

Ambassador Morales attended the Admiral’s Reception aboard HMAS Canberra on 21 March, as well as receptions aboard H.T.M.S. Naresuan of Thailand and INS Nilgiri of India on 22 March 2026, underscoring the Philippines’ strong support for regional maritime cooperation among partner navies.

On 23 March 2026, Ambassador Morales served as Guest of Honor at the reception aboard BRP Diego Silang, the Philippine Navy’s newest guided-missile frigate, during its historic visit to Sydney Harbour.

In his remarks, Ambassador Morales highlighted the growing momentum of Philippines-Australia defense and maritime cooperation under the Strategic Partnership. He noted that the Philippines’ participation in the Fleet Review and Exercise Kakadu reflects its commitment to a rules-based regional order, maritime security, and practical cooperation with trusted partners.

Ambassador Morales also emphasized that the visit of BRP Diego Silang to Australia demonstrates the Philippine Navy’s increasing role in promoting interoperability, regional stability, and peace in the Indo-Pacific.

Ambassador Morales likewise welcomed the participation of BRP Diego Silang in these significant activities, which coincide with the 80th anniversary of Philippines-Australia diplomatic relations in 2026 and further highlight the strength of the two countries’ longstanding friendship and strategic partnership. - END
