On 5-6 May 2014, Philippine Ambassador Belen F. Anota and Consul General Anne Jalando-on Louis together with representatives from the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) Sydney attended the Centrum für Büroautomation, Informationstechnologie und Telekommunikation (CEBIT) 2014 at the Sydney Showground of the Sydney Olympic Park. CEBIT is the largest technology exhibition in Australia, featuring innovations and technologies showcased by over 450 exhibitors, ranging from startups to global companies around the world, including the Philippines.
In conjunction with CEBIT 2014, a forum on Philippine IT-BPO was held in Sydney on 5 May 2014 where participants learned about the business opportunities in the information technology (IT) and business process outsourcing (BPO) in the Philippines, gained insights on latest trends and developments, and held one-on-one meetings with the Philippine delegation composed of the leading IT-BPO companies in the Philippines. The Philippine IT-BPO Forum featured a presentation on the Outstanding Trends: Australia and Asia Pacific, which was well-received.
The Philippine IT-BPO companies which participated were: ADEC group, Estan SAAS Software Development Inc., Exist, Global Process Management, Inc., KMC Solutions, Poinwest, Salmat, SPi Global, Straight arrow, Sutherland Global Services, Tele Development and Globe Telecom.
The companies were joined by Mr. Jose Mari Mercado, President and CEO, Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) and Ms. Patricia Abejo, Information and Communications Technology Office-Department of Science and Technology (ICTO- DOST).
