24 March 2021 (Canberra) - H.E. Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega, Ambassador of the Philippines to Australia, met with Ms. Maria Vamvakinou MP, Member for Calwell, Victoria and member of the Australia Philippines Parliamentary Group, at Parliament House on 24 March 2021.

Ms. Vamvakinou MP welcomed the reopening of the Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne and paid tribute to the contributions of Filipinos in Australia noting that her constituency has a significant Filipino population. Victoria is home to the second largest Filipino community in Australia.

Ambassador De La Vega and Ms. Vamvakinou MP discussed plans for the commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Australia in 2021 and affirmed the importance of this longstanding bilateral relationship. END
