14 October 2024, CANBERRA – The Philippine Embassy in Canberra welcomed university students Ms. Vivien Deng and Ms. Lourdes Bernadette from the Australian National University on 02 October 2024 as part of the Embassy’s hosting of the 2024 Girls Run The World (GRTW) program.

The Girls Run the World Program is an annual program which aims to empower the next generation of women leaders in international diplomacy. It is an initiative that provides young women with hands-on experience in fostering skills in diplomacy, international relations, and cross-cultural communication.

Ms. Bernadette shared her passion for women’s security and cultural exchange and keen interest in the role of the Embassy in enacting Philippine foreign policy. Ms. Deng emphasized her passion for cultural exchange and diplomacy and interest in learning how the Embassy’s outreach and engagement with diverse stakeholders contribute to building strong diplomatic relations.

The students experienced a full day program at the Embassy to learn about the diplomatic and consular work of the Embassy, gain insights into the dynamic Philippines-Australia relations and the significance of the Strategic Partnership. They also had the opportunity to enjoy delicious Filipino cuisine. The Embassy’s engagement with these aspiring leaders underscores its commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women in areas critical to diplomacy and international cooperation. - END
