21 March 2022 – The Filipino Community in New South Wales celebrated the annual Diocesan Fiesta in Honor of St. Joseph, Husband of Mary on 20 March 2022 at Nagle College in Blacktown NSW.
In her remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Australia H.E. Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega urged the community to remain faithful to their devotion to St. Joseph and to pray for the recovery of those families affected by recent flood in NSW and Queensland. She also encouraged those eligible to vote to participate in the overseas absentee voting for the Philippine national elections to take place on 10 April to 09 May 2022. Ambassador De La Vega was joined by the Acting Head of the Philippine Consulate General in Sydney, Consul Manny Guzman.
Hon. Ed Husic, Federal Member for Chifley, and Hon. Michelle Rowland, Federal Member for Greenway, addressed the Filipino community at the program following the celebration of Holy mass. Mr. Husic acknowledged the signicant contributions of the Filipino community in providing better life in his electorate. Ms. Rowland lauded the Filipino devotion to St. Joseph and encouraged the community, in particular the fathers, to make St. Joseph their role model in their everyday life.
New South Wales is home to the largest concentration of the Filipino diaspora in Australia. – END
