Mobile Consular Mission and Overseas Voting Field Registration in Broome, Western Australia, 4 July 2023

19 July 2023, CANBERRA – The Philippine Embassy in Canberra conducted a mobile consular mission and overseas voting field registration in Broome, Western Australia.

During the one day mission, the two-person consular team composed of Consul General Aian Caringal and Ms. Mary Irene Sadang provided a total of 46 consular and overseas voting services to the Filipino community in Broome and surrounding areas. Among the services provided were passport processing, civil registry, dual citizenship and overseas voting.

The Embassy’s last visit to Broome was held in September 2017. Broome is located 2,240 km by road to the northeast of Perth, capital of Western Australia, and is closer to Bali, Indonesia (1,319 km).

There are over 200 Filipinos and Australians of Filipino descent in Broome, including descendants of the Manilamen who were the first Filipinos who arrived in northern Australia in the 19th century and worked as pearl divers. END
