18 September 2023, CANBERRA – Philippine Ambassador to Australia H.E. Ma. Hellen De La Vega joined the celebration of “Buwan ng Wika at Fiesta ng Bayan” organized by the Filipino Language School in Canberra on 17 September 2023 at the Theo Notaras Multicultural Centre Canberra.

In her remarks, Ambassador De La Vega commended FLSC officials and volunteer teachers for their efforts in teaching Filipino language to younger Filipino-Australians in Canberra. She expressed her appreciation to the FLSC for being a partner in promoting Philippine culture and heritage.

The Fiesta ng Bayan featured a Knowledge corner where Filipino books and educational material were displayed. Guests had the opportunity to engage in Filipino language lessons, play Filipino trivia games and enjoy Filipino cuisine.

The Filipino Language School in Canberra aims to actively promote Filipino language and culture through structured and dynamic educational setting. They offer classes during Sundays at the Theo Notaras Multicultural Centre for children ages 4-15 years old and conversational classes in Filipino for adults. -END-
