10 November 2020 (Darwin, Australia) – The Filipino Community in Darwin celebrated the 23rd Barrio Fiesta at the Filipino Community Centre in Darwin, Northern Territory on 07 November 2020. The event was organized, compliant with Northern Territory’s COVID-19 safety protocols, by the Filipino Australian Association of the Northern Territory Inc., led by its President, Ms. Emcille Lim Wills and supported by Philippine Honorary Consul General to Darwin, Januario John R. Rivas AM. More than 1,500 people enjoyed Filipino music, dances and cuisine.
Northern Territory was one of the first destinations of migrant Filipinos in Australia with the first wave of Filipino migrants arriving in Northern Territory as early as 1895. Today, there are approximately 7,000 Filipinos in the Northern Territory.
