21 September 2022, CANBERRA – Philippine Ambassador to Australia Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega and Director-General Jose Maria A. Cariño of the Department’s Foreign Service Institute (FSI) met the Executive Director of the AU Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s (DFAT) Diplomatic Academy (DAC), Allison Duncan, on 19 September 2022.

The FSI designs and conducts training programs of the Department and also undertakes independent research on issues relevant to international relations and foreign policy as well as policy studies in aid of foreign policy formulation, management, and evaluation.

The FSI introduced its initiatives and projects to the DAC, including its cadetship, training programs and publications. The Ambassador also highlighted the importance and benefits of PH-AU cooperation, especially in the field of research and education, in contributing to regional peace, stability and progress.

The Philippine Embassy and FSI also engaged with officials from the DFAT, the Australia National University (ANU) and the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) to exchange views on regional and international issues and discuss potential areas of collaboration between PH and AU.
