08 April 2021 (Canberra) – The Heads of Mission of the ASEAN Embassies in Canberra met Mr. Dan Tehan MP, Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment of Australia, on 07 April in Parliament House. H.E. Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega, Ambassador of the Philippines, thanked Minister Tehan for hosting the meeting and discussed the important contribution of people to people ties of Australia and ASEAN in growing the relations. She noted the young population in ASEAN and how they drive economic and social development in the region.

Minister Tehan underscored the importance of ASEAN centrality and Australia’s relations with ASEAN. ASEAN, as a trade bloc, is Australia’s second largest trading partner. The Minister committed to pursue further engagements with the ASEAN Committee in Canberra. -- END
