AMBASSADOR'S YEAR END MESSAGE

Ambassador Antonio A. Morales

The Strategic Partnership between the Philippines and Australia has gained remarkable momentum in 2025 in the midst of unexpected shifts in the global landscape. Together, we have expanded cross cutting collaboration across various areas: education and skills development, agriculture, critical resources, renewable energy, the digital economy, trade and investment, as well as in maritime security, counter-terrorism, judicial cooperation, and development initiatives.

This year also saw several milestones in this partnership: the Philippines’ first-ever participation in Exercise Talisman Sabre, the inaugural Cyber Dialogue, and the introduction of direct flights linking Brisbane and Cebu, among many others. These accomplishments not only underscore the ambition and maturity of our Strategic Partnership but also demonstrate tangible progress rooted in sustained dialogue and practical collaboration.

Dialogue is the linchpin of our work and our success. In moments of uncertainty, we engage, seek to understand one another, and coordinate our efforts. In so doing, we strengthen our communities and move past divisions that hold us back.

This becomes clearer in my first year as Philippine Ambassador to Australia. Traveling across states and territories, I have seen our kababayans come together in both planned gatherings and chance encounters. From championing community initiatives to offering simple acts of support, these moments reveal how dialogue grows into real impact; a force that lifts the whole community. I am deeply thankful to our kababayans and all that they do to nurture, enrich and support one another and the communities they live in.

As 2026 is fast approaching, the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Australia is not far behind. From this year’s momentum, we will aim to tackle shared challenges, unlock new opportunities, and ensure that the fruits of this partnership truly make a positive difference for all.

Muli, isang masagana at mapayapang Bagong Taon sa ating lahat. Maraming salamat sa inyong patuloy na pagtitiwala at pakikiisa.
