02 July 2025, Perth - Philippine Ambassador to Australia, H.E. Antonio Morales, met with Mr. Daniel Worrall (Government Relations) and Mr. Jeffrey Pearson (Regional Portfolio Manager), senior representatives of Fortescue, a global natural resources and green energy company, to explore potential investment opportunities in the Philippine mining and renewable energy sectors. Fortescue conveyed interest in green mining and renewable energy development in the Philippines.

Ambassador Morales highlighted that the Philippines is the fifth most highly mineralized country in the world, with the third largest deposits of gold, fourth for copper, fifth for nickel and sixth for chromite. He also emphasized the country’s strategic location along major shipping routes, which presents opportunities for collaboration on green ammonia production, a clean fuel alternative well-suited for shipping and power generation.

Fortescue, a publicly listed Australian company, is globally recognized for its leadership in iron ore production and its bold commitment to decarbonizing heavy industry. The company is pursuing a fully costed plan to eliminate fossil fuels and carbon offsets from its Australian iron ore operations by 2030. - END
