02 July 2025, Perth - Deputy Lord Mayor of Perth Bruce Reynolds praised the dedication and work ethic of the Filipino community during a courtesy call by Philippine Ambassador Antonio Morales at Council House on 02 July 2025.

Deputy Lord Mayor Reynolds expressed admiration for the contribution of Filipino healthcare professionals in Western Australia’s hospitals and voiced support for a more streamlined process of accrediting Philippine nursing credentials in Australia. He also emphasized the city’s ongoing infrastructure development and expressed optimism about welcoming more skilled Filipino workers in the near future.

Ambassador Morales took note of opportunities offered by Western Australia's State Nominated Migration Program, which allows the state to nominate skilled professionals, many of them Filipinos, for permanent residency. Filipino professionals are increasingly represented across key sectors in Perth, including healthcare, education, construction, and the growing resources industry.

Mr. Reynolds noted that while around 400 to 500 Perth residents were born in the Philippines, the broader Filipino-Australian community is significantly larger. Mr. Reynolds also affirmed his support for the 80th anniversary celebrations of Philippines-Australia diplomatic relations in 2026. - END
