Updated Public Advisory on Foreign Nationals Transiting through AU Airports

/ advisory

The AU Government has advised that foreign nationals transiting through Australia for a period of 72 hours or less are no longer required to apply for an individual exemption from the Australian Border Force. Transit visa requirements still apply:

For transits less than 8 hours:

  • those who are not from an eligible country to transit without a visa require a transit visa (or another valid Australian visa)
  • all travellers must have evidence of their onward flight

For transits 8-72 hours:

  • all travellers require a transit visa
  • all travellers must have evidence of their onward flight
  • all travellers should check state/territory health requirements –

QLD: international transiting passengers no longer require a QLD entry pass. If a border declaration is required it will be processed at the airport
VIC: to be advised when incoming passenger flights resume.
