Ambassador Antonio A. Morales
Ambassador Antonio A. Morales is a career Philippine Foreign Service Officer with over three decades of experience. He had served in various capacities both in the Home Office and in Foreign Service Posts. Before his assignment in Australia, he was Undersecretary for Administration of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines since 2021.
He also served as Philippine Ambassador to Singapore from 2014 to 2017, following a stint as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Philippine Embassy in Beijing. He also headed the Philippine Consulate General in Milan, Italy and Hong Kong. Among his other postings were as Deputy Consul General in San Francisco, California; Minister and Consul General in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; First Secretary and Consul in Rome, Italy; and Third Secretary and Vice Consul in Ankara, Turkey.
In the Home Office, he served in various capacities covering bilateral and multilateral affairs under the Office of Undersecretary for Policy, the Office of the Undersecretary for Special Concerns, the Office of European Affairs, the Office of Consular Affairs and the Human Resources Management Office.
He holds degrees in Economics and Law from the University of the Philippines. Among the graduate studies he completed are: International Relations at the Escuela Diplomatic in Madrid, Spain, specialization in Multilateral Diplomacy at the Graduate School of International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland and Executive Diploma on International Law in the 21st Century from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
Prior to joining the Philippine Foreign Service, Mr. Morales worked at the Bureau of Communications Services under the Office of the Press Secretary, Congressional Fellow at the House of Representatives (1989) and a member of the local legislative council (Sangguniang Bayan) of Mulanay, Quezon (1982- 1984).
Mr. Morales is married to Ms. Shirlene C. Mananquil, who currently serves as Philippine Consul General in Istanbul, Turkiye.
