15 April 2025, CANBERRA – The Philippine Embassy in Canberra proudly joined over 12,000 runners for the Canberra Times Marathon Festival on 13 April 2025. The Marathon is one of the city’s most anticipated annual events that celebrates community, health, and resilience. Held in the heart of Australia’s capital, the race began in front of the historic Old Parliament House and wound through the iconic sights of the National Triangle and Lake Burley Griffin.
Leading the Embassy contingent was His Excellency Ambassador Antonio A. Morales, joined by Embassy personnel Mr. Jeffrey T. De Mesa, Ms. Kathleen Salonga, Mr. Rommel T. Quilang, and Mr. Lazaro C. De Luna. Their participation reflected the Embassy’s commitment to promoting holistic health and gender and development initiatives.
Aside from the Embassy team, various groups consisting of members of the Filipino community in Canberra also participated in the event.
The Canberra Times Marathon Festival, organized by Sole Motive, is the oldest city marathon in Australia. With a mission to bring people together through the power of sport, the festival has grown into a dynamic celebration of inclusion, perseverance, and community spirit. END
