24 August 2025, CANBERRA – The Philippine Embassy in Canberra joined the Filipino Language School of Canberra (FLSC) in celebrating Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa through the Fiesta ng Bayan held on 24 August 2025 at the Theo Notaras Multicultural Centre.

With the theme “Paglinang sa Filipino at Katutubong Wika: Makasaysayan sa Pagkakaisa ng Bansa,” the Fiesta ng Bayan celebration highlighted the important role of language and culture in fostering unity and love for the country.

The program featured a showcase of cultural and education activities including Araling Pilipino, Tribyang Pinoy, Kantahan, Palarong Pambata, as well as special performances by FLSC students. Filipino food stalls, a photo booth, and a kid’s corner with information about the Philippines iconic sites added to the festive atmosphere.

In his remarks, Consul Rainier Casis reaffirmed the Embassy’s support for the FLSC in advancing its mission of teaching the Filipino language, nurturing cultural awareness and better understanding of the Filipino heritage to children, particularly those of mixed Filipino-Australian families. He emphasized that Buwan ng Wika celebration is also a recognition of the enduring role in promoting Filipino values, traditions, and the unique collective identity across generations and borders.

The Embassy also conveyed its appreciation to Mr. Arnel Basas, President of FLSC, together with its officers, staff, and volunteers, for their tireless dedication and commitment in bringing the community together to celebrate the Buwan ng Wika. – END
