07 August 2024, Port Vila – Philippine Honorary Consul General Florentino “Bong” Serrano joined festivities in Port Vila to celebrate the 44th anniversary of the Independence Day of the Republic of Vanuatu on 30 July 2024.

The day-long celebration started with an official parade led by Prime Minister Charlot Salwai, which was followed by the Presidential Cocktail hosted by President H.E. Nikenike Vurobaravu at the State House. The day ended with a Prime Minister’s Cocktail at the Vanuatu Convention Center.

Several members of the Filipino community also participated in the activities in solidarity with their Ni-Vanuatu friends.

Vanuatu gained its independence from Britain and France on 30 July 1980. END
