The mission led by Consul General Aian Caringal is the first mobile mission in Nauru since 2019. According to the information gathered from the Filipinos and different government officials in Nauru, there are over 150 Filipinos and Nauruans of Filipino descent in the country. Other members of the team included Attaché Ms. Remedios Alcazar and Migrant Workers Office (MWO) OIC Mr. Oscar David.
The MWO provided services including verification of employment contracts, post-arrival seminar, and issuance of overseas employment certificates. The team visited work sites that employed Filipino workers in Nauru to learn more about the working condition of Filipinos in the country.
Consul General Caringal led a townhall meeting with the Filipino community to update them on the services of the Embassy, the establishment of the Department of Migrant Workers which is represented by the MWO at the Philippine Embassy in Canberra, and consular procedures including dual citizenship applications.
