PH Embassy invites kababayan to #PurpleTuesdays in celebration of National Women’s Month
The men and women of the Philippine Embassy join the #PurpleTuesdays campaign
in celebration of National Women’s Month.
08 March 2022, CANBERRA – The Embassy of the Philippines invites the Filipino community to join the #PurpleTuesdays campaign in celebration of National Women’s Month. According to the Philippine Commission on Women, the 2022 National Women’s Month Celebration endeavors to highlight the gains achieved for women and girls, assess actions towards gender equality and look forward to steps that must be taken to ensure progress in empowering women.
The 2021 Global Gender Gap Report of the World Economic Forum ranks the Philippines 17th of 156 countries and second best in East Asia and Pacific region, after New Zealand. The report says that the Philippines closed 78.4 percent of its overall gender gap.
On 04 March 2022, the Embassy lent its support to UN Women Australia in the nationwide celebration of International Women’s Day. The event featured Senator the Hon Marise Payne, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Women, speaking in Sydney, and Ms. Christine Clarke CSC, Australia’s Ambassador for Women and Girls, speaking in Canberra.
Make sure to wear anything purple all Tuesdays of March to signify support for women’s empowerment and gender equality. -- END
