22 March 2023, ADELAIDE – Philippine Ambassador to Australia Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega and South Australia Minister for Trade and Investment Nick Champion MP met on 21 March and discussed opportunities to strengthen economic links. As of 2022, the Philippines is the fifth largest export market of South Australia.

The Ambassador noted the growing trade ties of the Philippines with the State and briefed the Minister on the priorities and other developments in the Philippines that support increased trade and investment. The two officials also discussed the developments in South Australia and opportunities in technology, energy and defense industries. The Minister referred to the Filipino community in South Australia and the importance of the people to people connections of the Philippines with the State. He added that the South Australian government recognizes the importance of Southeast Asia and will pursue initiatives to increase engagement with the region. -- END
