PH Ambassador and MPs Join the Filipino Community in NSW's Celebration of the Feast of St. Joseph
19 March 2023, NEW SOUTH WALES – The Philippine Ambassador to Australia, H.E. Ma. Hellen De La Vega, joined the Filipino Catholic Community in the Diocese of Parramatta’s celebration of the annual Diocesan Fiesta in Honor of St. Joseph on 18 March 2023 at the Mary Queen of the Family Parish, St. Patrick’s Church in Blacktown, NSW. The High Mass and celebration were led by Reverend Father John Paul Escarlan and supported by parish priest Reverend Father Reginald Lavilla and the Filipino community in Blacktown.
Reflecting on the life of St. Joseph as the patron saint of workers, Ambassador De La Vega highlighted the hard work, responsibility, selflessness and contributions of overseas of Filipino Workers to the communities in the Philippines and abroad in her remarks. She wished the Filipino community a meaningful and reflective Lenten journey.
The Ambassador also encouraged eligible voters to register for the overseas absentee voting, which is open until 30 September 2024, for the 2025 Philippine national elections.
Consul General Charmaine Aviquivil, Head of the Philippine Consulate General in Sydney, Minister for Communications Hon Michelle Rowland MP and NSW Parliament MP Hon Stephen Bali also joined the feast day celebration.
New South Wales is home to the biggest Filipino diaspora community in Australia. - END-
