14 December 2020 Canberra – The Filipino Catholic Community in Gungahlin Canberra came together to showcase Philippine Christmas at the “December to Remember”, a Multicultural Community event at Our Holy Spirit Parish in Gunghalin Canberra.
Ms. Kotch Velasquez headed the committee in conceptualizing and building the “Pasko sa Nayon” (Christmas in the village) exhibit. Featured in the exhibit are Philippine icons Bahay Kubo, Lechon, Sungka, Mangoes and the Parol which were all collected and through the Bayanihan efforts of the Filipinos in the Northern part of Canberra. The Philippine Embassy contributed several items displayed in the exhibit. Also featured in the event is the lighting of Our Holy Spirit Parish’ Bell tower with Parol.
The Exhibit started on 12 December 2020, will remain during the Simbang Gabi and will end on Christmas Day, 25 December 2020. END
