/ news

The Philippine Embassy welcomed its first applicants for registration as overseas voters, namely, Mr. Vicente Dalma, Mrs. Marissa Dalma and Ms. Benita Mengullo of Victoria, on 7 May 2014.

The Embassy commenced registration of overseas voters on 6 May 2014 pursuant to Republic Act No. 8189 otherwise known as "The Voters Registration Act of 1996," (the system of continuing registration).

Pursuant to Republic Act No. 9189, otherwise known as "The Overseas Absentee Voting Act of 2003", as amended by Republic Act No. 10590, all citizens of the Philippines abroad, who are not otherwise disqualified by law, at least eighteen (18) years of age on the day of the elections, and who are registered overseas voters, may vote for President, Vice-President, Senators and Party-List Representatives.

All qualified Filipino citizens not registered as voters under Republic Act No. 8189 otherwise known as "The Voters Registration Act of 1996," shall file an application for registration while those who are already registered under the said Act shall file for certification.

For purposes of the May 9, 2016 Philippine presidential elections the filing of applications for registration/certification shall be from May 6, 2014 to October 31, 2015.

Requests for Transfer of Registration Records may be filed at any Philippine foreign service post or before the Office for Overseas Voting (OFOV) of the COMELEC during the registration period.

The Embassy encourages all qualified Filipino citizens to register as overseas voters and participate in the Philippines’ collective nation-building efforts.
