Yaz Gaté, founder of Tiny Cupboard Creatives, held an online art workshop featuring Filipino artist Pacita Abad for school age children all over Australia on 03 October 2020.
06 October 2020 – Filipino-Australian Yaz Gaté, founder of Tiny Cupboard Creatives, held a Kids Filipino Art Workshop on 03 October 2020 virtually bringing together 30 children from Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne to learn about Filipino artist Pacita Abad. The workshop was supported by the Philippine Embassy in Australia with the Department of Tourism in Sydney.
The Philippine Embassy in Canberra is featuring her art lesson at the Kids’ Corner of the online Cultural Gallery at the Embassy website (https://cultural.philembassy.org.au/kidscorner) for kids all over Australia to participate from their own home.
The works of artist and activist Pacita Abad have been shown in over 200 museums and galleries around the world. In the art workshop held on 03 October, Ms. Gaté taught the participants about Abad’s pioneering trapunto paintings and showed them the colorful, vibrant and insightful works of a successful and impactful Filipino artist. On 31 July 2020, Google Doodle honored Abad by making her the homepage banner of google.com.
