CANBERRA, Australia (25 February 2020) – The Philippine Embassy in Canberra participated in the National Multicultural Festival on 22 February 2020 in Australia’s capital city. The Philippine Booth promoted two major tourism destinations in the Philippines, namely, Coron and Boracay and was part of the ASEAN Village.
Over 1,100 people visited the Philippine Booth to learn why #itsmorefuninthephilippines with many choosing to take their photos with the media walls of Coron and Boracay and trying Philippine dried mangoes and mangorind candy.
The Embassy of the Philippines as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Canberra led the preparations for the opening ceremony of the ASEAN Village attended by Australia Capital Territory (ACT) Chief Minister Andrew Barr and Minister for Multicultural Affairs Chris Steel.
The National Multicultural Festival is Canberra’s biggest annual festival with more than 250,000 people flocking to the event to enjoy a diverse range of culinary delights, tourism promotion activities and cultural performances. The Festival will celebrate its 25th year in 2021 which coincides with the 75th Anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Philippines and Australia. END
