20 April 2022, MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA – The Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne facilitated the visit of a high-level delegation from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to Melbourne, as part of the DOST’s Scientific Visit Program to Australia.

Discussions of possible areas of cooperation took place at the Bundoora campus of RMIT followed by a tour of the teaching and research facilities of the university.

During the course of the visit, Dr. Rowena Guevara, Undersecretary for Research and Development of the DOST and Professor Charlie C. Xue, Associate Deputy Vice Chancellor (International) of RMIT held the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the DOST and RMIT. The ceremony was witnessed by Consul General Maria Lourdes M. Salcedo. High-level officials from the DOST, including Dr. Leah Buendia, Assistant Secretary for International Cooperation, as well senior members of RMIT also viewed the ceremony.

The MOU will facilitate cooperation between the DOST and RMIT, particularly on key areas of interest in science and innovation in the fields of health, additive manufacturing, and food innovations. It also supports the longstanding science and technology and educational cooperation between the Philippines and Australia. END
