22 November 2022 – Consul General Aian Caringal of the Philippine Embassy in Canberra met the Hon. Michelle Hopkins Roberts, Speaker of the Western Australia (WA) Legislative Assembly on 10 November 2022 during a lunch hosted by the Speaker for the Philippine Embassy’s mobile consular mission team and Filipino community leaders and volunteers.

Consul General Caringal updated the Hon. Roberts on the Embassy’s consular services for Filipinos living in Western Australia and highlighted the growing contributions of the Filipino community in the region. He also expressed appreciation for Hon. Roberts and the Western Australian government’s support to the Filipino community, including for Filipino seafarers in Western Australian ports during the height of the pandemic.

Hon. Roberts, who has a long-standing relationship with the Filipino community in Western Australia, assumed as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly in April 2021 and is the first female to hold this role in the history of WA Parliament.

Consul General Caringal led the Embassy’s consular mobile mission in Perth, WA on 07-14 November 2022. The mission was supported by Philippine Honorary Consul to Perth Ms. Virma Symons and Filipino community leaders and volunteers. END
