06 December 2022, CANBERRA - Philippine Ambassador to Australia Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega, together with fellow ASEAN Heads of Mission in Canberra, met the new Australian Special Envoy for Southeast Asia, Mr. Nicholas Moore on 30 November. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced the appointment of Mr. Moore at the ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings in Cambodia in November.

First Assistant Secretary Allaster Cox of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Southeast Asia Strategy and Development Division joined Mr. Moore in the meeting. They discussed practical ways to grow trade and investment between Southeast Asia and Australia. Special Envoy Moore, an Australian industry leader with long and expansive ties with countries in Southeast Asia including the Philippines and former CEO of Macquarie Group Limited, will lead Australia’s comprehensive Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040.
