22 July 2024, Canberra – Philippine Ambassador to Australia H.E. Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega met Engineers Australia Head of International Engagement Ms. Zeba Salman, Manager for Agreements Dr. Pawel Sajewicz and Standards Assessor Mr. Brennan Romano on 18 July 2024 to discuss possible future initiatives for Filipino engineers in light of the recent accession of the Philippines to the Washington Accord.

The Washington Accord is a multilateral agreement among organizations responsible for accrediting or recognizing tertiary-level engineering qualifications within their respective jurisdictions with the aim of working collaboratively to facilitate the mobility of professional engineers.

On 12 June 2024, the Parties to the Washington Accord unanimously approved the Philippine Technological Council (PTC) as a Full Signatory Member. The PTC is now the 25th Signatory to the Accord, making the Philippines the 25th national jurisdiction represented. - END
