06 May 2025, SYDNEY - Philippine Ambassador to Australia Antonio A. Morales called on Her Excellency Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales, at Government House in Sydney on 30 April 2025. They discussed the enduring friendship and deepening cooperation between the Philippines and Australia.

Ambassador Morales underscored the significance of the elevation of relations to a Strategic Partnership in 2023 which marked a new chapter in the bilateral ties. The Ambassador highlighted robust cooperation across several key areas, including defense and maritime security, particularly in upholding a rules-based international order, as well as education, where academic exchanges and institutional linkages continue to flourish. Governor Beazley acknowledged the valuable contributions of the Filipino community to Australian society, noting their skills, work ethic, and cultural presence as part of the country’s diverse multicultural landscape.

With a population of over 408,000, Filipinos and Australians of Filipino descent make up the fifth-largest migrant community in Australia. New South Wales hosts the largest concentration, with approximately 152,000 individuals residing in the state. - END
