The Philippine Embassy and its consulates in Australia have been closely monitoring the situation of cruise ships in NSW and other states. The immediate focus of the Philippine government is the medical and mental well-being of Filipino crew who are on almost every vessel around the globe.
We appreciate that the Australian Government including NSW have and continue to extend emergency medical assistance to those onboard various cruise ships. Several of our citizens who are crew of Ruby Princess are currently under the care of NSW Health.
With today’s development, we appreciate that MV Ruby Princess is now docked. Access to food, medical and other crucial supplies and emergency care are both easier and faster.
The Embassy continues to closely coordinate with the Australian authorities and the local agents to reach an outcome that is safe for our nationals, and satisfies the health regulations of both Federal and state requirements. END
