17 August 2021 – The ACT Government has announced the extension of current lockdown arrangements in ACT until 5:00 pm, 02 September 2021 (Thursday).
All Canberrans are reminded to follow ACT Health directions to minimize risks to the health and safety of the Canberra community as detailed in the following link: https://www.covid19.act.gov.au/stay-safe-and-healthy.
Also, the ACT Government’s Community Services Directorate, Office of Multicultural Affairs, provided the following information on emergency food relief for Canberrans:
“The ACT government has responded quickly to provide emergency food relief for Canberrans most in need during this lockdown period, partnering with VolunteeringACT and the State Emergency Service (SES) to provide free emergency food to those in need.
Any Canberran who is significantly and adversely impacted by lockdown and is unable to feed their family is encouraged to call 1800 43 11 33. Callers will be linked with a VolunteeringACT staff member who will place a shopping order on their behalf and members of the SES will then collect the order and deliver it to them. As the SES are unable to enter a person’s home, the groceries will be left at the doorstep after a knock at the door.”
