Joint Communiqué of the 48th ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 4th August 2015

The 48th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (AMM) Joint Communiqué (JC) dated 4 August 2015 included language on the South China Sea (SCS) issue, namely paragraph 150 which noted the “serious concerns expressed by some Ministers on the land reclamations in the South China Sea, which have eroded trust and confidence, increased tensions and may undermine peace, security and stability in the South China Sea.” Paragraph 156 also states that “the Philippines briefed the Meeting on further developments including matters particularly relating to the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).”
